Kogi’s N10bn Refund: Truth behind the lies

With Adetunji Ayobrown
If you know the truth and the truth shall set you free, popular quote
will all neglect this day. Something, if followed, capable of
transforming man to attain his optimum; I mean achieving the best-ever
‘super human’. Like many, I too believed our race can attain this
height, just only with strict application.
But our world is not interest in the truth, until the day a boy from
the unlike places became Nigeria president. The truth that makes men
free is for most part the truth which men prefer not to hear, so says
Herbert Agar. Kogi election needed not to be written on the sheets,
even the fools knew that, daylight ballots snatching, even with best
our security agencies on display.
Men occasionally stumble on the truth, but most of them pick
themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happens, late Sir
Wilson Churchill who also lived between 1874 and 1965 to told us. But
when your actions speak otherwise, says it all.
If you doubt this, it like when you know and not act on the truth,
then, you may not be free after all. The only thing I could make of
that. Just like a phantom of the Ophral in the night; we make truth to
seem what we thought it to be from us under darkness and cover. As we
roll here, in Nigerian’s style, truth is what you think. Fascinating
thing about it is that it is a terrible accident is that truth doesn’t
mean what it used to be anymore. Will our society continue to lives
with truth and lie is rather a timely question to ask ourselves.
In the letter has addressed to Senate only said the money would be
used by the Kogi state government to settle local debts it incurred as
a result of the projects executed on behalf of FG…but imagine just
two days to its elections, gave many reason to suspect foul play. So
also, the loan refund approval didn’t seat well with some lawmakers,
as they claimed that the approval appeared too hasty. The refund was
approved two days to the state’s governorship election which holds
last Saturday.
Their aims are so murderously accurate, that can decapitate three men
with single strike. The approval which many Nigerians opposed as some
lawmakers attempted to stop the process. Everyone questioned the
timing of the approval of the loan. What I don’t want is the misuse of
these funds because it is for the people of Kogi State. Of course, not
only local condemnations but even international community said it is
not the right time. Yes, there is no harm in approving this money, but
let the approval be delayed by just a week many people advised truly
there is transparency.
Osinbajo’s vs Presidency Cabals is another. For his alleged 2023
presidential ambition, responsible for Osinbajo trial, many Nigerians
belief. Just after the 2nd term elections, 35 sacked in the vice
president’s office alone where they were taken to just some ministries
because of re-organisation not only show but stated it VP’s influences
is withered.
Buhari reason for Osinbajo aides’ sack; accountability from bottom to
top seems not confusing. But how Buhari is not pleased that the
decision he took that was given ‘ethnic and political’
interpretations. Our president wants us to belief that the recent sack
of some Osinbajo’s aides was aimed at enhancing service delivery to
Nigerians. Kai, indeed subjectivity in display; two different
positions, mutually exclusive, either both are wrong, or one is right
because both can neither be right.
Still counting, post election violence where many lives and properties
lost in both Bayelsa and Kogi are still ongoing. But whatever the
outcomes, it had shown that Nigerians had indeed aware of these
happenings, don’t you think. Just two days to election, Kogi gets N10
billion from Senate seems a clever move ask in polity. As they did,
Nigerians real raised more than eyebrows, but truth is what you think,
please don’t ask me. All I know is in much as we all failed to act
despite knowing the truth, resultants may not be palatable.
News had that some protesters in the UK booed a convoy presumed to be
carrying the president. Many of the them carried placards calling for
freedom for the detained publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele
Sowore. Others condemned the treatment of the leader of the Shiite
movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. Between court and security
agencies, many don’t know what to belief any more, wondering too, so
am I.
All truth are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point
is to discover them’, late Galiloe Galilei who lived between 1564 and
1642 said that and whether you now agreed or not to or with it, the
truth stays. The forthcoming governorship election in Kogi many
expected to be a tough contest between incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Musa Wada of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
Well calculated many saw President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter to
the senate, seeking approval for the payment of N10 billion to settle
local debts incurred by the Yahaya Bello-administration as refund for
projects executed in the state on behalf of the federal government.
Playing smart, the APC controlled Senate stood it grounds, said the
loan request for Kogi came in the 8th assembly and has been delayed
enough. So for once the stories are true, many saw to that. But the
senate leadership, advised oppositions speaking like one wise enough
to seek political solutions.
Words won’t stop our enemies once they are armed with blades’ election
violence is likely if a daylight rigging this is allowed, don’t you
think as well. But it is rather hard for many to admit, even when it
is glaringly that they are very wrong.
Difficult not impossible, a good man would have done otherwise, abi I
lie? Like they did…a boy in us can be more than just been good but
great politically. The bond between brothers is sword to defence our
common unity. What is our precious honour have to say to that, we all
know the truth.
Everything changes with time truly, no ever expected the arrowhead of
this administration to have anything like the 10bn Kogi payment and
the likes. So is Buhari sincere with Nigerians, even many spoken
against it daylight.
Unbound to us that effect of election rigging is a dangerous
liability, ask anywhere. From the filers from Bayelsa and Kogi state
was not something to write home about. Many lives cut-short abruptly,
so also properties. If the truth had been said and applied from the
primaries of all political parties peradventure, there will be no do
or die during the election. At a time where the exigencies of the
moment may caused it been used, don’t you think about this as well.
For every life lost because of the election violence in Kogi and
Bayelsa, but how do a truthful man we react to this? As if these
elections needed not to be written on the sheets, winning at all cost
syndrome, daylight ballots snatching in the of security agents should
bothered us all. More of this true than you would believed. No man can
be lost on straight road; many Nigerians can see better and that is
the cause of post election violence, if the truth must be said.
