ASUU under fire for contemplating another strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said it is “thinking of” embarking on another strike.

The union said this via its official Twitter handle, in reply to a question.

It had called of its three-month strike in February after reaching an agreement with the federal government over issues bothering on staff welfare among others.

“Thinking of going on another 3 months strike action,” it wrote.

It is not yet clear if the union was joking but the tweet did not go down well with many Nigerians.

While some said the post was “useless”, others used some unprintable words while attacking the union.

A social media user, SmartDreamer @dreaming_smart wrote; “What if thunder strikes ASUU before they strike.”

In his response, Emmanuel ukata @rudekat25 said, “Is this one April Fool?… we’re not in April yet.”

Similarly, Ganikale Abdulwasih Ola’s @GanikaleAbdulw1 said, “Dear ASUU, is there no other way to manipulate FG to adhere to your demands than going on strike? This incessant strike is having effect on the students. Honestly, you are there for your interest only. Find another way to get your demand not strike all the time.”
