Guber Election: Cleric charges Muslims on peaceful conduct, hate speech
By Ahmed Ajikobi
The Imam of Sultanate Central mosque, Adewole, Ilorin, Ustaz Sultanat Kamaldeen has tasked Muslims to be of good conduct before, during and after the gubernatorial election schedule for coming Saturday in the state.
Kamaldeen said the Presidential/NASS elections held last Saturday were peaceful and smooth and charged the electorates to repeat the same feat next Saturday.
The Islamic cleric gave the charge at the Jumaat service during his sermon (Khutba) shortly before the two unit congregational prayer adding that they should not be involve in violence.
According to him, the electorate should vote in peace and go back to their respective houses to avoid a situation whereby they will be involve in violence that may eventually affect their families.
“The Presidential and NASS election have come and gone successfully and International observers also confirmed it as free and fair. This shows that all the prayers we have offered for protection of lives and property all over the country were accepted by Allah.
“Those that emerged as president and members of the National Assembly have been destined by Allah to be irrespective of the circumstance.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has contested several times before now and lost until the last contest with former President Goodluck Jonathan which he won because it has been destined that 2015 will be his time and winning his second term too has been destined by Allah. Same thing goes for the other contestants too”, he added
The Imam however cautioned Muslims and other electorate on the use of hate speeches or words that can lead to fight against themselves while celebrating their victory adding that election will go and people will still remain.
He urged the people to pray for the best candidates that will have the mercy and interest of the people.
“Let’s pray that anyone that will have the love of people in mind and provide their needs should emerge. Muslims should pray for the coming election to also be free and fair like the President/NASS election in the state”.
