At last, Samuel Kalu’s mother regains freedom
The last week has been a torrid time for Bordeaux of France and Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu following the abduction of his mother, Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu.
For six days, the woman who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen was in captivity until she regained her freedom on Monday.
She was said to have been abducted on February 27, while travelling to Abia. It was however uncertain whether a ransom was paid by the 21-year-old footballer or his family.
Our security agencies must step up operation and come hard on kidnappers as it is becoming a regular occurrence in the country. Of late, footballers and their families are now increasingly being targeted.
Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel’s father was kidnapped for the second time in seven years last June before being released after a ransom of N10million was reportedly paid.
In 2008, the brother of former Everton defender, Joseph Yobo was kidnapped before being released two weeks later.
