The Kwara State House of Assembly has commenced deliberation on the need for the urgent inauguration of the new State House of Assembly Service Commission, by the State Government.
The deliberation followed a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by the House Leader, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, at the floor of the House.
It would be recalled that the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Monday 31st of December, 2018, signed into law bill granting financial autonomy to the State House of Assembly.
Speaking on the matter, Hon Oyeleke noted with concern, that despite the assent of the bill into law, the Commission was yet to be constituted by the executive and urged the leadership of the House and the executive arm of government to constitute the Assembly Service Commission immediately to ensure the implementation of the autonomy for the legislature in the state.
In their contributions, members representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe and Ilorin Central constituencies, Hon Ahmed Ibn Mohammed and Hajia Segilola AbdulKadir, enjoined stakeholders to ensure the take off of the commission, latest by next week by composing its membership.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Mathew Okedare, who presided over Tuesday’s sitting, disclosed that the recess of the House was put on hold in view of its importance, adding that further deliberation on autonomy of the State House of Assembly, would continue in the next legislative day.
