The Governor-Elect of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and the newly elected members of the State House of Assembly as well as other political office holders have been charged not to betray the confidence reposed in them by the electorate who voted them into office.
This charge was made by the Imam, Al-Ilal Central mosque, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State, Prof. Lanre Badmas in his sermon during jumaat service, last Friday.
He stressed that Amanah (trust) is valued by Allah, adding that any one who does not betray the trust people have in him will be guarded against the wrath of Allah and also be rewarded.
He further charged the elected public office holders to fulfil all the promises they made in their manifesto in order to make life bearable for the masses.
The Imam, however, condemned the New Zealand mosques’ attack by a terrorist who killed more than 50 Muslims and injured several others penultimate Friday.
Badmas noted that the Muslims who were killed went to the mosque to pray to Allah but met untimely death, urging ummah to always be prepared for death as it may come at anytime.
He further noted that despite the tragedy, Allah used the situation to bring about positive change in the country.
“365 people embraced Islam after the attack. The government also allowed the Muslims to start using public address system to call prayers,” he disclosed.
He therefore charged all Muslims to fear Allah and follow His will to earn for themselves reward on earth and in the hereafter.
