7 celebrities who hail from royal families

 

A lot of people have no idea that some of their favourite Nigerian celebrities are from royal homes and here is a list of them.

  1. Chris Okagbue

Chris Okagbue was born on June 23, 1987 into the royal family of former Obi of Onitsha, H.R.H Obi Ofala Okechukwu Okagbue and Ogechukwu Clara Okagbue of Onitsha Kingdom, Anambra state, Nigeria.

He is a graduate of Sociology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has five siblings (one older sister Sandra Okagbue, a twin brother Christian Okagbue and three younger sisters Jane Okagbue, Christabel Okagbue and Bella Okagbue).

At the age of 17, he broke into the limelight of the modeling industry, appearing on billboards, newspapers and TV commercials of multinational corporations like MTN, Cadbury Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc (Star Lager Beer), UAC Foods, LG, Coca-Cola Nigeria (Coca-Cola & 5 Alive), Orange Drugs Limited (Canon Extra and Passion Energy Drink), Airtel etcetera.

He is a brand ambassador of Passion Energy Drink at Orange Drugs Limited. He has graced various covers of renowned Nigerian & International magazines.

  1. Omawumi

Singer, Omawumi was born of a father with an itshekiri chiefdom title on the 13th of April 1982. The songstress has been active in music for about a decade.

She’s also ventured into acting with a minor role in the 2009 edition of the V-Monolugues, a play that reflects the negative issues affecting women in Nigeria, Inale, a Hollywood/Nollywood Bongos-Ikwe production, starring Hakeem Kae Kazeem, Dede Mabiaku, and Ini Edo She also starred in the musical play Olurombi.

She’s starred in Funke Akindele’s Return of Jenifa and Yvonne Nelson’s House of Gold (2013) alongside Majid Michel and Ice Prince.

The Singer Omawumi officially became Mrs Yusuf as she married the love of her life Tosin Yusuf last year in Warri, Delta state. The ceremony was attended by friends and celebrities in the entertainment industry. See video below

Omawumi had her first child for Tosin Yusuf back in 2012 but didn’t make the marriage official until much later when the two got married legally at the Ikoyi Registry.

  1. King Sunny Ade

Chief  Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye MFR, known professionally as King Sunny Adé (born 22 September 1946), is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in the West African musical style jùjú.

One of the first African pop musicians to gain international success, he has been called one of the most influential musicians of all time.

In March 2017, he was appointed an ambassador for the Change Begins With Me campaign by the Nigerian minister of Information Lai Mohammed.

Classed as one of the most influential musicians of his time, the Juju music Icon, King Adé aged 69 was born to a Nigerian royal family in Ondo, earning him the royal title of an ‘Omoba’of the Yoruba people.

Active in music for 56 years, means he started his career at age of 13… All hail the Omoba. The musician has 2 Grammy nominations making him the first African to be nominated twice for a Grammy.

Recall that when the maestro of juju music clocked 70 years, he was celebrated in his hometown, Ondo.

  1. Toolz

Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, is a Nigerian radio personality, talk show host, and presenter. She is best known for hosting The Midday Show on The Beat 99.9 FM.

Toolz was born in London on 6 July 1982. She had her primary education at Talbot House preparatory school in Bournemouth, UK, and secondary education in Nigeria before relocating to study at the City of Westminster College. She also has a degree in Business and Mass communication from London Metropolitan University. Her parents are the famous Oniru Royal family of Lagos State.

Toolz and her husband Captain Tunde Demuren, exchanged marital vows about 3years ago before family and friends.

The couple welcomed their first baby on the 18th of December,2018 after she lost her 1st pregnancy.

  1. Gbemi Olateru

Gbemi was born on July 18, 1984 as an Omoba of the Olagbegi family in Owo, a city in Ondo State, southwestern Nigeria. She attended Pampers private school, Surulere, and Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo.

Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi officially tied the knot with her soul-mate, talent manager Femisoro Ajayi on the 3rd of November last year.

She also attended Queens College, Yaba before she proceeded to Oakland University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. She obtained a master’s degree in Media and Communication from Pan African University, Lagos State in 2009.

Rita Dominic is a member of the Royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise local government area in Imo State and the youngest of 4 siblings.

With 18 years of experience in acting she’s starred in over 100 Nigerian movies. She’s also won a series of awards the most recent in 2014 (AMVCA) for best actress in a leading role.

It would be recalled that after the actress stated that she almost got married but it didn’t work out, controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu made a revelation that actress, Rita Dominic was ready to quit spinsterhood.

Maduagwu, who gave the hint on via his Instagram page, said the 43-year-old Rita will be walking down the aisle with a certain Billionaire from the Southeast region.
