Kwara gov-elect names 80-member transition c’ttee

 

…BOB, guber aspirants, senatorial party chair, others make list

…inauguration holds today in Ilorin

The transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government to an All Progressives Congress (APC) government may have commeneced in earnest in Kwara State following the announcement of an 80-member Transition Committee (TC) by the Governor-elect,  Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Abdulrazaq made this known  in a statement issued in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital by his media aide, Rafiu Ajakaye, yesterday.

According to the statement, an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, Aminu Adisa Logun, is the Chairman of the committee while Chief James Bamisaiye Ayeni will serve as his deputy.

A one-time Permanent Secretary and former Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Razaq Umar, will serve as Secretary among other representatives of youth, women, labour, experts and professionals in different fields of human endeavour, including retired military and security officers..

Other members of the committee that statement added include the APC Chairman in the State, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa; the three senatorial district party chairmen; former governorship aspirants or representatives; party chieftains and elders.

Also included in the committee in list cited last night by this reporter which was circulated in some online platforms were gubernatorial aspirants of the APC during the last governorship Primaries in the state, Hakeem Lawal, Abubakar Tajudeen Audu, Director-General of the Governor-elect campaign, Yahaya Seriki and the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party, Issa Aremu.

The nominees also include former PDP chairmen, Iyiola Oyedepo and Prince Sunday Fagbemi, former Minister for Sports, Bio Ibrahim, Mohammed Razaq Umar, Lai Yahaya, Arch Titus Abogunrin, Alhaji LAK Jimoh, Barrister Kunle Suleiman, Sen Ahmed Mohammed, Alhaji Shuaib Ndakene, former PDP governorship running mate, Yinka Aluko, former commissioner of Information, Raheem Adedoyin, former Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Rex Olawoye, Gen T.S Bello, Gen Kale Agbabiaka, Dr Saliu Ajia, Dr AbdulGaniyu Baki and Kale Belgore.

Others are former Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Mumini Katibi, Barrister Salman Jawondo, Musbaudeen Esinrogunjo, former lawmaker, Hon Adamu Sabi, Razaq Jiddah, Mohammed Kudu, Alhaja Mero Eyitayo Mustapha, Olayemi Oyebanji, Sunday Oyebiyi, Ibrahim Attahiru, Engr Muzamil AbdulKareem, Dr Mohammed Ghali, Aisha Ahman Pategi, Alhaji Afusat Olumoh, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, Rev Bunmi Olusona, Dr Timothy Gana and Mrs Sadaatu Modibbo Kawu.

Former Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Ezekiel Issa Benjamin, Tajudeen Kareem, Justice Idris Adams, Dr Ibrahim Ayanda, Prof Bayo Lawal, Lanre Hassan, kabir Oniyangi, Shade Omoniyi, Chief Elisha Olorunisola Ojo, Hajia AB Kazum, Capt Muhammed Nasir, Mrs Laide Abel, Shehu AbdurRahman, Prof Tunde Opabola, Mrs Mary Osasona, Abdullateef Alakawa and Bar Murtala Sambo also made the list.

It also includes Dr Timothy Gana, Engr Muhammed Gofe, Engr Rasheed Oyewole Salami, Col Babatunde Ishola (retd), Prof Shehu Adaramaja, Barr Ahmed Akanbi, Princes Adebukola Babalola, Isiaka Olorundare, Isiaka Olorundare, Engr Gabriel Oyeyemi, former Commissioner, Elder Wole Oke, Abdulbaqi Jimoh, Hajia Farida Dankaka and Adeyemi Gbenle among others

“The broad representation reflected in the selection of the committee members demonstrates the avowed commitment of the Governor-elect to fulfill his promise of an all-inclusive government under the new APC administration in the State.

“The composition of the TC also took into account best practices in a number of states, where a holistic change of leadership occurred, AbdulRazaq added.

“Terms of reference for the committee include liaising with the outgoing government to facilitate smooth transition to the new government on May 29, 2019, engagement of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), review of the finances of the outgoing government with a focus on receipts, assets, and liabilities, among others.

“The committee is also mandated to come up with policy recommendations for the incoming administration”, the statement added.

It said the governor-elect charged the committee members to be sensitive to the high expectation of the electorate and the general public to experience the desired positive change in leadership while appealing to the masses to support the committee with relevant information and memoranda where necessary.

He expressed great optimism on the capacity of the committee members to deliver on their assignment (based on) … patriotism and passion to serve the state.
