The Imam of University of Ilorin Mini Campus Central Mosque, Dr. Abdulrafiu Ibrahim of the Department of Religious Studies has warned Muslims against act of adultery.

Ibrahim gave the warning during his sermon (Khutba) at the institution’s mosque on Friday shortly before the two traditional unit of prayer, adding that anyone with such act will face the wrath of Allah.

He further noted that fornicators and transgressors against the command of Allah will not only experience decrease in wealth but Allah will also distance His mercy from them.

Ibrahim who quoted copiously from the Glorious Qur’an and both the old and new testaments of The Bible to buttress his point said both Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Prophet Essa (AS) otherwise known as Jesus Christ were stern warners of the consequences of adultery.

He said: “In the Day of Judgement, there will be no mercy for those involved in such sin. During judgement, such transgressors will be denied mercy from Allah.”

“Jesus warned against adultery and preached on the essence of obeying the commandment of Allah (SWT) in all ramifications.

“He (Jesus) further advised that if your eyes will be your obstacle on the Day of Judgment, then remove it.”

“Similarly, Prophet Muhammad said in one of his traditions (hadith) that “God will deal with anyone who is involved in adultery. All the parts of our body that partake in the adulterous act will testify against us in front of Allah on the last day”.

Bible verses quoted include Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:22-24 and Matthew 5:27-30 among others.
