Hope house emerge winner of Queen Elizabeth School football competition
The end of the term football inter house competition of Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin yesterday comes to an end as Hope House of the college defeated Taiwo House 1-0 in a keenly encounter.
The match which has in attendance, the director of sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem as Special Guest of Honour was adjudged the best in the recent time in the history of the school.
About nine houses participated in the soccer competition which meant to tap talent at the young age.
Earlier Fatima house wins the third place after beating Amope house 2-0.
Speaking at the event, the director of sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem charged other schools in the state on the need to inculcate sporting activities much in their curriculum.
“That is how it was during our own time. Schools sport competition is the only avenue to tap raw talent who could in the future do the country proud.
“I want to commend the staff and management of Queen Elizabeth School for putting forward this football competition,” he Kazeem said.
In the same vein, the principal of School, Hajia Ramat Abdulrahman said: the rational for the inter house football competition is to bring about the best from our students who are talented in sporting activities.
“Here we blend academics with sporting activities so that that in the nearest future they can have alternative ways of livehood.
“Sports today globally is a big venture, and the best way to discover them is through competition like this,” she stressed.
