Be kind to your parents, cleric tasks Muslims
By Ahmed Ajikobi
The Imam of General Hospital Centre Mosque, Kwara State, Dr Khalid Bello has urged Muslims to be dutiful and kind to their parents, adding that such act is another way to escape Allah’s wrath and gain His Paradise.
He gave the advice at the Juma’at service during his sermon before the two rakat prayer, adding that there is need for Muslims to fear Allah in relation with their conduct with the parents.
According to him, children should obey the orders and advice of their parents which does not lead to committing shrik with Allah and strive to make them happy always.
Quoting from the Glorious Qur’an and traditions of Prophet Muhammed (SAW), the Imam said: “a man went to the Prophet (SAW) and said he is free from his parent as they have passed away”.
“The Prophet (SAW) replied that he is not free but must pray for them after death, do instigifar for them, do all the works they use to do while alive like sadaqat and respect those they used to respect and love”.
He also urged Muslims to be kind to everyone around them as the Qur’an demanded and the Prophet (SAW) preached, adding that the greatest character to emulate is the Rasul.
He said “If someone offends you, over look it and repay with kindness. Muslims should pardon the wrong things people have done to them. Allah loves those who pay with good if someone offends them.
“Our kindness is not limited to human being alone, whoever kills a bird for nothing. Allah will raise that bird against its killer on the day of judgement.”
Bello added that Allah will be with those who fear Him and those who repay evil with kindness and admit them to paradise on the day of Judgement.
