22- year-old student arrested for cultism in Ilorin

A 22 -year-old student, Owoeye Emmanuel will soon be charged to court for cultism in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspect was arrested by the Security Division of the University of Ilorin over his involvement in cultism.
According to a Police source, the Chief Security Officer of the institution was hinted of activities of cultists within the campus.
“The information prompted the CSO to deploy his men to the scene, which led to the arrest of Owoeye, who was initially detained at the institution’s security post.
The source further disclosed that the case was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation into the matter.
” In the course of investigation, the student revealed that he belong to the Eiye confraternity and was initiated in 2017 by another cult member simply identified as Aji.
“He confessed that since then he and his other cult members have been involved in atrocious acts within the school.”
The source added that investigation is ongoing into the case as the police are making efforts to arrest other cult members who are currently at large.
Efforts to contact, the Kwara State Police Spokesperson DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development, proved abortive as calls did not connect and text messages didn’t delivered at the time of filing this report.
