Kwara Kick-boxing Association draws action plan
Kwara State Kick-Boxing Association has resolved to revive and also raise the standard of the sport in the state, especially from the grassroots.
The proposed grassroots plan, the association said, will be designed to go round all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, including the military and para-military set ups. The association, at its inaugural meeting last Wednesday also resolved to encourage the athletes and officials, by creating the needed atmosphere that will bring about adequate motivation and enough competition.
The resolutions were contained in a seven-point communique drawn at the end of the marathon meeting held at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Council, and signed by duo of Jimoh Bashir and Peter Olaoye Mayowa, the Secretary of the association.
Towards actualising the set objectives, the association, under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Abdulrazaq Adebayo Owolabi Wopa Agbaji will engage a substantive kick-boxing coach, to accelerate development of the sport in the state.
The Acting coach, Bolaji Sidiq, who briefed the association on the activities and developments in the association, has been charged by the association to urgently submit action plan for the smooth revival of the sport in the state.
The association commended the Acting coach, for his efforts at keeping the sport afloat, despite the huge challenges.
The association also agreed on the need to tackle the problem of poaching of athletes, concluding that enough motivation and the encouragement of the right atmosphere for the athletes and their coaches will eradicate the menace, which they said, had depleted the state’s athletes.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Wopa charged members on commitment and sacrifice.
He also tasked the athletes and the coaches to give the association the opportunity to improve on the sport in the state.
