Tragedy in Kaiama: 15-yr-old cow rustler kills 2 minors

A 15-year old, Usman Abdullahi, was yesterday, remanded in prison custody over alleged murder of two children of one Bello Muhammed in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The two children; Usman Abdullahi, 8 and Solihu Abdullahi, 6, lived in Elemere village, Fulani camp, Kaiama until their untimely death.
The innocent minors were allegedly macheted to death while grazing their father’s cattle.
The First Information Report revealed that the father of the deceased reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Malete before it was transferred to the State Criminal and Intelligence Department (CIID) for discreet investigation.
The father of the victims was said to have reported at the police station that his children who had gone to graze his cattle were missing.
The Police report stated that the search party raised by the deceased family found the lifeless body of Solihu and Usman in the bush with machete cut on their necks while the cattle have been stolen.
Discreet investigation conducted however led to the arrest of the accused person at Igbeti, Oyo State while trying to escape with the animals he dispossessed from the deceased, FIR divulged.
During the investigation, the accused person was said to have confessed to the crime.
He was arraigned before Magistrate B.O Bamigbola for the offences of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and armed robbery contrary to sections 97, 221 of Penal Code and section 6(b) of robbery and firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 law of the federation of Nigeria 2004.
Inspector Yakuq, in his submission urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody saying the alleged offence is not ordinarily bailable.
He posited further that police investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
The Magistrate, in his ruling, ceded to the submission of the prosecutor, adding that the court lacks jurisdiction to hear the matter.
He therefore adjourned the case to 28 May, 2019 for further mention.
