Iyaloja tasks Kwara Gov-elect on town hall meetings
The Iyaloja General of Kwara State, Alhaja Adenike Lambe has charged the incoming Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on town hall meetings in order to ensure good governance.
According to Alhaja Lambe, town hall meetings will bring the government closer to the people.
Speaking with our reporter in Ilorin, yesterday, the markets leader said, “The Kwara Governor-elect should engage in consistent meetings with every association including the traders. Through such interaction the Governor will get to know the needs of the people and ensure development of the state.”
Speaking further, Alhaja Lambe urged the incoming administration to improve the Agriculture sector in order to boost revenue generation in the state.
“The incoming government should support local farmers to improve rice production in the state. There is the need for industrial rice mill with modern facilities that can produce and polish local rice like the foreign ones.
“The mills here are not as standard as the ones used for foreign rice. The one we have only removes the dirt and pebbles in rice,” she stated.
Alhaja Lambe however debunked reports that prices of food items are hiked during Ramadan, saying that the prices are under control except for tomatoes which are normally scarce during the raining season.
“On the hike in price of tomatoes, we have met with Hausa traders and they informed us that it was due to the raining season adding that the commodity will be surplus during the dry season.”
Meanwhile, the Iyaloja said that market associations in the state are ready to work with the incoming administration. According to her, market associations have no political colouration.
She urged marketers in the state to unite and avoid mixing politics with market associations.
