Catholic media practitioners elect new exco in Ilorin
The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Ilorin Diocese chapter has elected officers to pilot the affairs of the association.
The election took place during the general meeting of the body at the Diocesan Communications Centre last Wednesday. It was moderated by the Diocesan Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Christopher Atoyebi.
Officers elected were; James ‘Yemi Adurotoye, President; Comrade Olaolu Ajayi, Vice President; Mrs. Margaret Innocent, Secretary General; Seyi Olarewaju, Treasurer; George Oyeyiola, Public Relations Officer.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Yemi Adurotoye, called for unflinching support of members even as he implored them to brace up for the tasks ahead in ensuring the association takes firm root in the diocese.
“Let us collectively work to make remarkable impact in the society by supporting the church on the mission of evangelising the world,” he remarked.
The Diocesan Director of Communications, Fr. Christopher Atoyebi advised CAMPAN members to remain steadfast in proclamation of the faith, adding that media remains a veritable means of carrying out the Great Commission.
The meeting was also used to prepare for the celebration of 2019 World Communications Day (WCD), which shall include courtesy visit to selected media houses, leadership seminar for the youth as prelude to the main event.
WCD will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral, Taiwo Road, Ilorin on June 2, 2019 beginning with Eucharistic celebration. The inauguration of CAMPAN and Catholic Artists and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN), Ilorin Diocese, blessing of media professionals and their working tools as well as social interaction with the church hierarchy (bishops and priests) after mass are some of the activities lined up for the celebration.
