Kwara Poly auditorium ready for commissioning
The multi-million naira auditorium of the Kwara State polytechnic, Ilorin which is 95 per cent completed is ready for commissioning by the state government.
The project which was awarded about 17 years ago under the tenure of late Governor, Mohammed Lawal was initially awarded to Raheem Olademeji and Sons Limited and abandoned but recently re-awarded to the same company by the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed administration.
The contractor, Alhaji (Chief) Raheem Olademeji resumed back barely five weeks ago.
Speaking on the project, the site Architect, Tunde Karatu disclosed that the auditorium has a capacity of about 5,000 with standard electrical fittings and modern air conditioners, 84 ceiling fans, industrialised boreholes and 22 toilets for both male and female.
According to him, the project is ready for commissioning as all fittings and equipment have been installed and perfected.
In his reaction, the contractor, Chief Oladimeji who is the Jagumolu of Igbomina land and Arogundade of Lagos said the project has been on for long adding that the delay was not his fault.
Oladimeji, who is the founder of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin appreciated the state government for re-awarding the project and for having confidence in his company.
He described as the largest auditorium within the polytechnic environment.
The contractor assured the state government that all the facilities used are modern would serve their intended purposes.
