Ex-sports commissioner, Alalade, decorated by Man’O’ War

 

The immediate past commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Hon. Muideen Olaniyi Alalade  was last Thursday honoured and decorated as a member of the Man’O’ War,  Kwara State chapter.
Alalade was honoured at his former office in the presence of the state Commandant of Man ‘O’ War, M. J. Alibaba, Deputy State Commandant, Mallam Amidu Olowo, other senior officers of the command and officials of the Sports Ministry.
The programme came up shortly before the handing over of the affairs of the Ministry to the Director Public Finance and Supply (DPFS), Hajjia Afusat Afolabi on behalf of the Permanent Secretary,  Alhaji Akanbi Shuaib.
Speaking after his decoration, Hon Alalade, expressed appreciated the Man’O’ War for the honour and the management of the Ministry for their support, saying the honour couldn’t have come at a better time than now.
He said, “I’m so delighted to receive this honour. In fact it is coming at a time I needed it the most”.
He however pledged his continuous support to the Command adding that he will look into their accommodation problem.
Earlier, the state Commandant, Mallam M. J. Ali-Baba, described the honour as a well deserved to the recipient.
The Commandant, who was a one-time Board member at the Kwara State Sports Council said,  the honour was not given to Alalade just because he was a commissioner but due to the impact he had made in the society.
Speaking further, Ali-Baba said, “he (Alalade) had assisted the association in so many ways so much so that our national officers gave their nod to honour him based on the report sent to them.”
The Commandant while confirming the membership of Alalade congratulated him, adding that he had been tested and has proven himself.
In her remarks, the Director PFS, Hajjia Afolabi on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, management and staff of the Ministry felicitated with the ex-commissioner adding that the honour was well deserved.
She described Alalade as a humble and dedicated officer, who led by example during his time at the helms of affairs in the Ministry.
While thanking the Kwara State Command of the Man’O’ war for the gesture, she prayed Almighty Allah to continue to guide and protect her former boss.
