KWHA Speakership: Kwara North candidate, Saliu steps down
One of the aspirants for the position of the Speakership of the 9th
Kwara State House of Assembly has withdrawn from the race, it was
gathered weekend.
According an online medium CKNG, the member Elect for Okuta/Yashikira
constituency of Baruten Local Government Area, Mohammed Baba Salihu,
said it became imperative to sacrifice in the overall interest of
Kwara North and for the change that Kwarans voted in the last
Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
Quoting the lawmaker-elect, the medium reported him to have said
“Nothing is bigger than the general interest of our people, I have
strong belief that this will facilitate the emergence of a consensus
candidate from our zone to forge a common front of cohesion and unity
in the election of the next Speaker of the House” he added.
It said it commended CKNG for its unrelenting advocacy, and champion
of the course of Kwara North beyond partisanship. He pledges his
support and loyalty to the course of Kwara North Speakership.
It would be recalled, that CKNG had since embarked on advocacy for the
speakership to be retained in the northern axis of the State, on the
tenet of equity, justice and fairness. CKNG had also met the
Honourable Members Elect from Kwara North on the need for unity of
purpose and selflessness in producing a consensus candidate in the
interest of Kwara North.
