2 docked over alleged vandalisation 

 

The  Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital on Monday remanded one Kayode Idowu and Ahmed Umar over destruction and receiving of stolen property in Ilorin.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) complaint revealed that on 30 May, 2019, a case of vandalisation of transformer cable was reported to the Intelligence and Investigations Department through the station office of the NSCDC Kwara State Command that one Issa Kazeem (Vigilante) arrested one Kayode Idowu  of 25 Osere Area, Ilorin with a  5-metre transformer cable and handed him over to the NSCDC.
Investigation into the alleged offences revealed that Idowu went Into the premises of Sheik Abdulquadri College, Ilorin, cut the transformer cable with a saw blade and kept it in an uncompleted building before his arrest.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Umar of Odota Area, Ilorin who bought the stolen property and in whose shop the copper wires were found.
They were dragged before Magistrate Ahmed Dasuki for criminal conspiracy, wilful destruction of public property, theft and receiving stolen property contrary to and punishable under sections (6), 1 (3) (a) and (b) of the miscellaneous offences act cap M17 LFN 2004,286 and, 316 of the penal code and punishable under section 287 and 347 of the penal code law of Nigeria.
The prosecution counsel, Bode Silas prayed the court to remand the defendants in prison custody as investigation is ongoing on the matter.
In his ruling, Magistrate Dasuki remanded the defendants in prison custody while the case was adjourned to 15th June, 2019 for further mention.
