The 8th Assembly was inaugurated in June, 2015 following the sweeping victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in election of that year.
But twenty-three members of the House later dumped the APC for PDP except Saheed Popoola who is the only re-elected lawmaker.
But during its Thursday’s sitting presided over by the Speaker, lawmakers felicitated with the new Governor Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi.
This followed a Matter of General Public Importance raised by member representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Mohammed at the Floor of the House.
They equally charged the Governor to always take the resolutions of the House seriously, as the legislature represents the people of the state.
Members had while speaking on the Matter of General Public Importance, urged the Governor to run an – all – inclusive administration, pointing out that the enormous task ahead requires collective efforts of all.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has praised National Pilot for its professionalism and investigative reporting that has stand it out among its peers in the state.
According to the Speaker who condemned some of the reports about the lawmaker’s severance package in some of the media, noted that National Pilot usually goes in-depth and thorough in establishing fact before going to the press.
The paper has attracted similar accolade from other notable people in the state like the immediate former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and recently won the paper of the year by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) which carried out a peoples’ poll to select the best in the state.
It has also won several nominations from outside the state to rub shoulders with other national dailies.
