How I developed business idea from leftover food – CEO, Yankas Poultry Farm
Mr. Mansud Yinka Abiodun, the Chief Executive Officer of Yankas Poultry Farm located in Obanisuwa area of Airport, Ilorin, Kwara State has opened up on how he came about his business idea.
The CEO said while growing he discovered that his family members used to dispose leftover food, which did not go down well with him.
“Most of the time my father would not finish his food and the next day my mother will throw it away. So I decided to purchase two poultry chickens and fed them with the remnants.
“This actually gave me the idea that I can start a business from there. My family supported me and I was able to set up farm. I can’t say specifically how much I invested in the business as capital, however, resilience pull me through,” he added.
He asserted that poultry is the most profitable business in the world, therefore urging government to make funds available to poultry farmers for purpose of expanding their businesses.
The poultry farmer disclosed that he used proceed of the business to sponsor his education.
He said after his graduation he didn’t have to search for white collar job but continued with his business, which he considered more profitable.
Abiodun noted that funding had remained the most challenging factor in the business.
He then called on unemployed youths to embrace vocational skills in order to be self reliant in future.
