KWSG charged  to declare state of emergency in sports

 

The Kwara State Government has been charged on the need to declare state of emergency in the area of sports in the state.
The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Defence Correspondent, Mohammad Abdulkadri stated this on Tuesday during the 41 years reunion get-together of Highlander Football Club held in Ilorin the state capital.
This admonitions is coming barely few days after the Governor of the State, Abdulraman Abdulrazaq muted the urgency for sports Summit in industry.
According to the veteran journalist, Kwara State sports industry has witnessed infrastructural decay which requires an urgent attention.
“We wish the present administration in Kwara to declare state of emergency in the area of sports.
“We ex-highlander players want to support and complement government efforts to be able to declare state of emergency.”
Abdulkadri added that the state needed to build new capacity in the area of sports alongside build the younger ones.
“If you look at the infrastructure in Kwara State, they are getting decay. We need to build new capacity in the area of sports and come up with sport policy that would build the upcoming young ones in the sports industry, “he said.
Abdulkadri who was the team manager of Highlander Football Club of Ilorin, an household football team in the 70s stressed that the rationale for the ex-player reunion 41 years after is to open a new chapter of hope for the young ones.
Continuing, “the rationale behind this coming together is for highlanders’ family to have a goal.”
“One of the reason, for this gathering is to bring back the flavour, the bubbles of then for all of us to track the memory lane to our playing days.
“Another reason is to see how we can contribute our quota to the development of young ones.
“We want to have highlander foundation where we will be able to help the upcoming young ones,” Abdulkadri stressed.
