KWSIEC chairman resumes office, promises staff welfarism

The new chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), Alhaji Eleja Taiwo Baanu has resumes office even as he promised to make staff welfare his priority.
Eleja who was the immediate former commissioner for Energy during the last administration assumed office last week together with other members of the commission.
Addressing the staff of the KWSEIC, the commission chairman implored them to give their maximum support to the new management and be more dedicated to their duty.
He further urged them to make equity and balance their watch word for the commission to excel as an unbiased umpire, adding that the welfarism of the staff will remain paramount during his tenure.
Baanu was confirmed and inaugurated last week by the Kwara State House of Assembly following his nomination by the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
He however drew applause from the legislature following his deliberate refusal to attend the first screening exercise over misrepresentation of his name by the government.
Responding on behalf of the staff, the secretary of the commission, Mr Yero Kuranga pledged their loyalty and support to the new management, describing the staff members as dedicated and obedient.
Other members of the commission include Alhaji Kayode Issa who is commissioner in charge of Legal Matters, Information Publicity Research and Information, Dr Dele Kayode, Training Matters, Alhaji Mohammed Adesina, Political and Personnel, Alhaji Issa Abdullahi, Elder Gabriel Yemi Jimoh, Administration and Security Matters and Alhaji Nasiru Ayo Lawal who is commissioner in charge of Special Duties.
Their appointment by the past government was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the former occupants of the offices.
Baanu assigned each of them portfolios after the inauguration as part of his first assignment.
