Two top chieftains of the Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) last night broke their silence on the alleged attack they suffered in the hands of some supporters of former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Former chairman of the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyiola Oyedepo and the party’s former Publicity Secretary, Chief Rex Olawoye, two leaders from Kwara South, according to a facebbook post that went viral in the state last week were beaten over insinuation that they where against the reappointment of the minister who is also from the senatorial district.
The allegation posted on “Kwara Mind”, reads: “Why would these boys beat Baba Rex and Akogun blue black because of ministerial slot? Eyin omo Lai Mohammed Ko da oo”,
The development reportedly triggered various comments from APC members, many of whom called the duo to ascertain the veracity of the post.
But speaking with our reporter last night, they vehemently denied the allegation.
In separate telephone chats with this reporter, Oyedepo and Olawoye said there was nothing like that happened.
According to the former PDP spokesman, “where were they, there was nothing like that and I suspect this is coming from the opposition’s camp to cause confusion between us. I am in my house and there was nothing of such. Oyedepo also called me about it a while ago. That is just a figment of the imagination of the writer”, he added
On his part Oyedepo said,  “Nobody attacked or abused me or Chief Rex Olawoye. It is just a figment of the imagination of some people. I am not struggling for any position, so why would anybody attack me. I didn’t tell anybody that I am gunning for any position, whatever God brings to me I will take. Maybe they have employed the service of hired writers to destroyed my image.”
