Kwara police arrests 19-yr-old cultist in Ilorin
The men of Kwara State Police Command have arrested a 19- year- old suspected cult member, Abdulfatai Abdulganiyu over an attack on one Moshood Jamiu, in Ilorin, penultimate Friday.
The suspect alongside his accomplice simply identified as Azeez popularly known as Figo and others at large, were said to have perpetrated the crime on the fateful day.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the “G” Divisional Police Station, that the suspect and others at large conspired to attack the victim.
The police source further said that following the information, operatives swung into action and stormed the crime scene along Oluwatoyin Primary School, Oloje area of Ilorin.
“Immediately the cultists sighted the operatives they fled the scene. But, luck ran out on one of them as he was caught by the policemen.
“The suspect was held in police custody for proper investigation into the matter,” the source added.
According to him, the case was transfered to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the state headquarters, Ilorin for discreet investigation on the matter.
The suspect reportedly confessed to be a member of the Eiye confraternity, adding that he was initiated by Azeez (Figo) in 2016.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest Azeez and others currently at large as investigation is still on to get their whereabout,” the source stated.
Efforts to get the state Police Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development, proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone did not connect and text messages not acknowledged at the time of filing this report.
