‘Labourer’ murders employer in Kwara

A manson known in local parlance as labourer, Abubakar Umar has allegedly murdered his employer, Hassan Bashir in Idofian, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, penultimately Friday..
The suspect, a Fulani man, who is currently on the run, was said to have perpetrated the act alongside an accomplice who is also at large.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the Divisional Police headquarters, Idofian, which made the operatives to swing into action.
“When police got to scene of the crime, a resident of the Fulani camp in Idofian divulged to security operatives that the suspect was formerly in the employ of the deceased.
“The suspect and his accomplice were said to have attacked Bashir over protracted misunderstanding between them.
” Intelligence officers were put in place to search for the suspects. The search led to the arrest of the father of the principal suspect, Mairuwa Umar.
“Investigation revealed that Mairuwa who was aware of the incident and the role his son played, aided his escape, thus preventing his arrest,” the source added.
He further said that the case was transfered to Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department of the state Police Command, Ilorin for discreet Investigation.
” In the course of investigation, Mairuwa who confessed to have advised his son to flee, could not give satisfactory account of the suspect’s whereabout,” the source stated.
He said that efforts are ongoing by the police to arrest the fleeing suspects, adding that Mairuwa is helping the security agents in their investigation.
Efforts to get the state Police Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development, proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone did not connect and text messages not acknowledged at the time of filing this report.
