31-yr-old docked over alleged murder in Ilorin

The Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara state capital has remanded one Toyin Adeleke in custody over the murder of one Hussein Ibrahim in Ilorin.
The police First Information revealed that on May 30, 2019 the case was transferred from ‘E’ Division to Criminal Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department (CIID) for discreet investigation. It revealed that on that same date, one Dayabu Ibrahim reported that his brother Hussein Dayabu was seriously Injured and robbed of his Bajaj motorcycle in Ori Oke area, Basin road Ilorin and rushed to University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for treatment where he later gave up the ghost.
The FIR further revealed that one of the robbers was caught by aggrieved commercial motorcyclists and he was brutally beaten and was about to be set ablaze before he was rescued by Police Officers in ‘E’ Division.
Toyin confessed to the crime that he collaborated with one Nupe man (name unknown ) and attacked the deceased with dangerous weapons during which he (Adeleke) hit him on the head and he became unconscious.
He was dragged before Magistrate Omotayo Shittu for Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Culpable Homicide contrary to 6(B) and 2 of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and Section 221 of Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor, Sanni Abdullahi prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody in accordance with section 229 of the Administrative Criminal Justice Law of Kwara state. He confessed that the FIR is backed up with a motion exparte which is backed with an affidavit of 12 paragraphs which the prosecution relied on.
In his ruling, Shittu remanded the defendant and adjourned the case to 1st July, 2019 for further mention.
