Ukwenla emerges Vice President of Africa Cricket Association

 

The Annual General Meeting of Africa Cricket Association (ACA) held in Nairobi, Kenya ended with great success with resolutions by all member countries to continue to move Africa Cricket forward.
In the meeting that was held on 15th June 2019, series of fruitful decisions on building partnership and embracing the global trends in the organisation and promotion of the game were reached.
Apart from the confirming that the proposed ACA Africa T20 Cup will hold in Kenya August – September 2019 with 8 teams in participation, member countries were urged to key into the marketing initiatives being planned to involve countries in branding and promotion of the event in the respective countries.
Every Federation was also urged the intensify level of their visibility through the social media and quality content dissemination.
Another highlight of the event was the election of new board of ACA.
Ms Jackiejaan Mohammed of Cricket Kenya was elected President while Prof.  Yahaya Ukwenya of Nigeria Cricket Federation emerged as Vice President.
Other offices occupied included Development Director won by Giriish Ramakrisnam of Botswana Cricket, Tournament Director by Mrs. Hester Khan of Cricket Namibia and Finance Director by Dipankar Sengupta of Mozambique Cricket Association.
For the North West Africa Development Representative, the President of Ghana Cricket Association, Kwame Asare was elected while Vivek Gamesan of Malawi Cricket is to man the post as the Central and Southern African Regional Development Representative.
For the East Africa Region Regional Development Representative, the mandate was given to Eddie Balaba of Rwanda Cricket.
The Board is expected to be in stable for two years when the next election will be held. Nigeria was represented in the meeting by the President of NCF, Professor Yahaya Ukwenya and the General Manager, Emeka Igwilo.
