Cabinet: Kwara APC calls for submission of names from LGs
By Mumini AbdulKareem
The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has
commenced the process of selection of names of party loyalists who are
to be subsequently considered for appointments into the cabinet of
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, National Pilot, can report.
The Governor, after the initial appointments of the Secretary to the
State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff (CoS) and the Chief Press
Secretary (CPS) recently, was yet to make any further announcement.
The seeming halt in further announcement of appointive positions has
however attracted differing comments from within the fold and outside
the party with some attributing it to the high wire lobbying among top
members and vested stakeholders in the APC.
Reliable sources in the APC who confided in this reporter, last night,
revealed that the party has directed members and other top
stakeholders from the wards to forward one name each to be considered
for appointment when the time comes.
Also speaking on the issue, another top source in the party confirmed
the commencement of the compilation of names for the appointment
process of commissioners and aides.
He however said he could not give a date when the announcement will be
made after the submission of names.
“Yes, they have started compilation of names now and the issue is at
the ward level. So party chieftains, stalwarts and leaders have
started submitting names and this was done to carry everybody along
and give all stakeholders sense of belonging.
“The list will be like a pool and it is from there that the Governor
will pick his Commissioner appointees, SAs, SSAs and other aides he
may deem fit,” he noted.
When contacted, last night, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji
Tajudeen Aro said the situation is a “normal thing” within political
parties.
According to him, “Well, it is a normal thing after election. You know
everywhere everybody will be generating list here and there. That is
normal and generating names is going on everywhere, both individual
and groups within the party (in consideration for appointment)”, he
added.
