Kwara APC chieftain, Mayaki, speaks on alleged Gobir’s move to unseat Abdulrazaq

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Ilorin East, Kwara
State, Alhaji Musa Mayaki, last night, responded to speculation making
the rounds that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq visited him to
complain about the attitude of Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, a former
gubernatorial aspirant of the party.
The Governor and Gobir contested the gubernatorial primaries together
before the former emerged in controversial circumstances.
Earlier in the week, there was an online report which had since gone
viral, alleging that Gobir was involved in serious scheming to replace
Abdulrahman as the Governor of the state over his alleged certificate
forgery case which is still in court.
The Facbook report which also alleged that Governor Abdulrazaq
reportedly ran to Mayaki to help caution Gobiri further accused the
former of suspending the Local Government Council chairmen as a ploy
to appease aggrieved party elders who want him out among others.
Investigation by this medium revealed that the meeting took place at
Mayaki’s Adewole residence in Ilorin around 7pm on Monday.
But reacting to the report last night, Mayaki in a telephone interview
with National Pilot confirmed that he actually met the Governor.
According to the Ilorin East APC chieftain, he only discussed personal
issues, politics and governance with the governor, adding that he also
read the online report.
He said, “I got the information too and read it online when it was
brought to my notice. Yes, the governor truly visited me, but we had a
discussion that was far away from the online report. There was nothing
like that.
“The Governor visited me as an elder statesman and a stalwart of the
party and we discussed his own personal issue and other issues
concerning governance but nothing about Gobir and whatever they were
saying in the online is correct”, he added
