Salesgirl docked over N1.5m scam

The Upper Area Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital has
granted bail to one Kadijat Oladimeji over alleged misappropriation of
fund.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that one Alhaja
Olarewaju Ramat  reported the case at CP Monitoring Unit ‘A’ Division
that she employed Oladimeji as a salesgirl at her Aso-Oke tread shop
located at Alagbado area, Ilorin.
It further revealed that Olarewaju sold most of her thread and cones
without her knowledge and  embezzled N1,500,000.00.
During the course of police investigation, Oladimeji who admitted to
the crime confessed that she used part of the said money in buying 6
pairs of shoes, television, standing fan, carpet, DVD, a handbag and
jewelries.
She was dragged before Judges, Hon Sunday Adeniyi and Hon Abdulyekeen
for criminal breach of trust, cheating, misappropriation of fund and
theft contrary to section 212 ,322  ,309 and 287 of penal code law.
The prosecutor, Asp Mojisola Olamokun said the offences against the
defendant are not ordinarily bailable, she therefore prayed the court
to remand the defendant in prison custody.
In his submission, counsel to the defendant, Barr. Toyin Onaolapo
said the offences against the defendant are ordinarily bailable. He
prayed the court to grant the defendant bail as bail is at the
discretion of the court.
In their joint ruling, the Judges Awoniyi and Abdulyekeen admitted the
defendant to bail in the sum.  of N200,000 with one surety. The
defendant must deposit the sum of N200.000 to the court  registry
while the case was adjourned to 22 July, 2019.
