The Kwara North All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Council has
reiterated its call for a ministerial appointment in the yet to be
constituted cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Buhari is expected to make the announcement of his new
cabinet any moment from now after the conclusion of the June ceremony
to make the new democracy day held in Abuja yesterday.
Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
occupied the sole slot of the state in the last cabinet.
But there has been growing calls in the state especially from Kwara
North and Kwara Central district for the former minister to be
replaced over allegation that he was using the position to serve Lagos
state more than Kwara.
According to the Kwara North Elders’ in a statement jointly signed by
its chairman, Hon. Abubakar Mora Usman and Secretary, Hon AbdulMalik
Manzuma Kawu, the group congratulated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq
and the APC on the emergence of the new Speaker of the Kwara State,
Hon Salihu Yakubu Danladi
The group while commending the honourable members, their constituents,
party leadership and all men of good will home in Kwara and in
Diaspora whose supports rendered the process rancour free, said it
“urged all and sundry to sustain the spirit of fairness, equity,
justice and togetherness to ensure that the Ministerial Slot and the
membership of our party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) are given
to the Kwara North as outlined earlier in line with the conventional
practice in our state.
“All hands must be on deck, sacrifices must be made to support our
Governor as he accords the promised special attention towards
infrastructure revivals in Kwara North and the state in general.
Expectations are indeed hugely high in the face of a continuously
mounting challenges and thirst for good governance in our dear state”,
the statement added.
