I sponsored my education with business proceeds – CEO, Rolex Phones Consult
Mr. Tolu Andrew, a graduate of Civil Engineering from the Ladoke
Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State has
revealed that he sponsored his education with his phone repair
business.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Rolex Phones Consult, he
served as an apprentice for two years before he gained freedom and set
up his own business.
“I’m from a poor background, so my parents could not sponsor my
education. I approached a phone technician for enrolment as an
apprentice and he accepted me wholeheartedly.
“As an apprentice we were taught how to repair phones; android,
smartphones, iPhone and even laptop. The GSM Village was around Wuse
II in Abuja and I was just a secondary school certificate holder then.
I thank God that through this job, I have been able to achieve many
things.
“I was able to fund my education and expand my business in Ilorin,” he added.
The young entrepreneur, who presently operates his business at the
popular Challenge area of Ilorin disclosed that he has trained no
fewer than 12 youths since the inception of the business.
“So far, I have trained about 12 people. When they completed their
training, some of them are established now. I have trained both
graduates and undergraduates in this job, even those who already had
their Masters,” he further said.
The CEO, however, advised young Nigerians not to despise little
beginnings, but start from somewhere, stressing that he feels
fulfilled doing his kind of job.
He then appealed to the Kwara State government to assist him with
soft loans to further expand his business.
