Excerpts:
I consider the day I was almost docked by a Federal High Court Judge
in Ilorin in a matter of fundamental reinforcement of my client as a
day I can never forget.
There were documents I tendered and I confidently told the court that
they were certified by the required law. The Judge felt they were not
properly certified, thereby asking me to enter the dock, he vowed to
send me to prison. I lost balance and sweat profusely that I had to
wipe it with my gown.
It was a bitter experience because I couldn’t imagine myself as a
lawyer being ordered to be remanded in prison in the presence of my
client. Later, I was happy that the judge discovered that the
documents were really certified by the court. What happened was that
the Federal High Court does not accept the procedure use as in the
lower courts. He got to realise that the documents were certified but
he had already taken it up with me. At the end, we all laughed over
it.
