Musty FC lifts 2019 Kwara Peace Cup

Musty Football Club of Ilorin yesterday lifted this year’s Kwara Peace cup competition after defeating Owonikoko  Football Academy of Ilorin by a lone goal to nil.
Kwara Peace Cup competition is a grassroots football tourney is meant to discover talents at the local level as well as fostering unity and harmony in Kwara State.
Wasiu Owonikoko had the opener goal for Musty FC just 20 minutes into the game with an aerial header which saw the goal keeper helpless.
The match which was keenly contested saw Musty boys dormitory  the game as all efforts by Owonikoko to bounce back was totally halted by the resilience pressure of Musty boys.
The match which was played at the Government Day Secondary School Tanke, Ilorin had in attendance the Chairman of Kwara Football Associations Mall Musa Idris, the Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem and the representative of Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Sports.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the match, Umar Balogun, the initiator of the competition who also doubles as the Chairman Ladorb Academy charged the winning team to be magnanimous in victory.
He added that the concept for staging the competition is to tap the talents and use the competition to bridge harmonious coexistence in Kwara State.
“As part of our social responsibility to the society, we are poised to engage our youths, co-opt them in a soccer competition since football is the universal language and a bait for mutual cohabitation.
“Alongside this, we do follow them keenly to ensure we discover raw talent among these youths,” Balogun said.
The winning team received the trophy with cash donations while the runners up were given a consolatory sum of N10,000.
