The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to have attitudinal change towards locally-made goods in the country.
The Director of NOA, Kwara State, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi made the call during a one-day sensitisation programme held at Federal Secretariat, Ilorin on Monday.
The Director while speaking on the theme, ‘Change Begins With me: Patronise made in Nigeria Goods,’ emphasised on the importance of patronising locally made goods and services to boost the economy of the country.
He said, ” The major way to  make the nation grows rapidly is when locally-made products are promoted through patronage as this  it will enhance industrial activities.”
According to him,  patronage of made in Nigeria goods will conserve the nation’s Foreign Reserve, strengthen the naira against other currencies and boost the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which are major indices of economic growth and development.
The President of Kwara State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), Dr Raji Adeoye while presenting a paper at the event,  highlighted some of the reasons for the low patronage of locally made goods
He noted that some of the factors are low quality, high price and poor customer service.
The KWACCIMA boss suggested that less dependence on crude oil, industrial know-how, availability of markets and good infrastructure among others can champion locally made goods.
Also Speaking, the Chairman of AmuGold Group of companies, Mr Temitope Amujo commended NOA for the timely forum while charging government to provide infrastructures and assist small and indigenous businesses to access soft loans and grants to boost their businesses and affect the nation’s economy positively.
The interactive event had stakeholders cutting across farmers, Artisans, RTEAN, students, market women, media among others.
