Emir to CMO: Don’t relent in promoting Islam

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has tasked Council of Muslim Organisation not to relent in propagating Islam.
The emir who was represented by the Magaji Are of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Subair, made this known on Saturday at the 20th anniversary appreciated the CMO for the award bestowed on individuals who have contributed immensely to the growth of Islam.
The monarch therefore charged all Muslims to emulate the awardees by contributing their own quota to promote Islam.
In his remark, the Guest Speaker, Ustaz Sannu Shehu urged all affluent individuals in the state to support the organisation because of its enormous responsibilities.
He however warned against allowing western education to blind the youth against Islamic values even as he urged all Muslims to lead a good life.
Shehu also charged the organisation and Ilorin Emirates Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) to be focused on moving the state forward by advising those in charge of administration.
The coordinator of the organisation, Justice Idris A Haroon(RTD) said that the organisation which was founded in 1999 is a mouthpiece for all Muslim organisations and also to conduct duties that can enhance and promote peaceful co-existence and understanding among adherents of Islam and non-Muslims under the guidelines of mutual respect.
Haroon highlighted some of the programmes such as awards of excellence to some illustrious Muslim sons and daughters of the Emirate, distribution of prizes to winners and runners up of the Quran quiz competition for secondary school students.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Agaka mosque, Asa Dam, Alhaji Yusuf Pakata urged the state government to always partake in religious programmes and to choose SA Religion that knows actually knows about religion.
He also tasked the government to fulfil the needs of the masses and to run a transparency government.
Among the awardees were; the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, Chief Imam Gaa Aremu, Abdulqadri Abdulsalam Zubair, Justice Saidu Kawu, Alhaja Saratu Oba Agaka, Alhaja Muinat Shagaya, Alfa Mamud Baba Alaro Busari (Eyonbo Anobi) among others.
