Man receives 12 strokes of cane for pant theft

Dauda Azeez, 39-yr-old fashion designer was on Monday, given 12 strokes of cane after he was convicted by the Magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State for stealing female pants.
The police First Information Report (FIR) ย revealed that the case was transferred from Divisional Police headquarters Yashikira to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Ilorin and referred to Anti Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit for discreet investigation.
It further revealed that on 2nd July, 2019, through a tip off, one Dauda Azeez of Oke-Suna, Oke-Kobi, Chikanda was arrested in connection with the theft of one used female pant.
Further search in his house and premises led to the recovery of 16 other used female pants, FIR divulged.
During the course of investigation, Azeez confessed that he has been in the habit of stealing pants for three years.
He also confessed that he stole the pants with the motive of smelling them, saying he likes the scent of woman private part and that it arouses him.
He was dragged before Magistrate Hafsatu Alege for theft of used female pants contrary to section 287 of penal code law.
The Prosecutor, Isah Abubakar, applied for summary trial following the admission of the defendant to the crime.
Magistrate Alege ordered the defendant should be given 12 strokes of the cane in a public place.
