Kazeem Agaka is the new Secretary, Kwara Football Association. In this interview with MIKE ADEYEMI, he speaks on his emergence as FA scribe as well as the urgent need for Kwara State Government to prioritise football development in the state. Excerpt:
How did you receive news of your appointment as Kwara FA scribe?
The news came unexpected. I was called by the chairman to see coach Kehinde Jimoh, Director at Kwara Football Academy.
On getting to him, he gave an appointment letter to that effect signed by the current chairman of FA, Musa Idris Thuraya.
I did have inkling about it and since it’s a call to service, I consider it a worthwhile.
Often time in life, you just have to continue doing what you know how to do best because  people are there watching.
I thank God for the privilege and promise to do all I can within my ambits to propel Kwara Football Association forward .
What  would you do differently from your predecessor?
God willing my plan as a secretary is to take football to better level with the help of the board members.
It is a team work, and all encompassing. I shall strive hard to add value to the team in the form of ideologies and inputs.
I think to whom much is given, much is expected of him.
I will ensure that new initiatives and programmes that are in tandem with the global standard are put before the board.
Football development in Kwara State in the recent time has been bedeviled with lots of challenges.
Soccer enthusiasts in the state are desirous for progress in the area of football, and thus the reason they reposed their confidence in the current board.
Indeed, this much anticipated changes from our people would not be jettison for debris. We will ensure that the dwindling glory of football development in Kwara will be rekindled.
Immediately this board assumed office, we realised that Kwara Football Association needs partnership and sponsorship. On this note, the FA has just signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Owu Sports.
What informed your appointment as Kwara FA scribe?
I have rich antecedents in football administration which cut across many sports.
But, what I consider utmost to my appointment as Kwara FA Secretary is a divine hand of God.
My appointment was ordained by Almighty Allah.
How do you think the Kwara State Government can reposition football?
The Kwara State Government should prioritise football development in the state in tandem with other state in Nigeria.
The government should give more financial aid to the Kwara FA.
With this, many of its commitments would be fast track which in the long run will bring even growth.
The association can’t isolate itself from the government. We need the inputs of the Kwara State Government.
