2019 Academic Session: IVTEC matriculates 468 students

The International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo, has matriculated 468 students for the special certificate programme in the first circle of the 2019 academic programme.
Rector of the College, Dr Ade Somide in his remarks at the orientation and matriculation ceremony for the new intakes, said the trainees were sponsored and supported by World Bank, N-Power, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Youth Employment and Social Support Operation YESSO and individuals.
Somide expressed profound gratitude to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his support in developing the education sector.
He said, “We are especially heartened by His Excellency’s commitment to education and Human Capital Development. His Excellency has stated in his inaugural speech that his administration will revamp our education to produce the best minds that will in turn make Kwara second to none.
“As an institution dedicated to building 21st century workforce in Kwara State and Nigeria, IVTEC is well positioned to play its part in advancing this important objective of the present administration,” the Rector said.
Somide said the trainees upon graduation will become self reliant in technical and entrepreneurial skills.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Maryam Garuba, urged the matriculating students to be focused and determined, in order to excel in their chosen fields.
Speaking on the topic, “Entrepreneur Mindset”, the Guest Speaker, Nasir Abdulquadri, charged the students to imbibe the spirit of managing both human and physical resources. He further urged them to be dedicated to whatever they are doing irrespective of gender.
Also speaking at the event, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Sikiru Atanda Sanni Woleola ll, commended the immediate past government for the establishment of the college.
He however urged the present administration to go a step further by providing business start up pack for the trainees after graduation.
The monarch also advised the new intakes to focus on their studies and to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the college.
Cash prizes donated by the former governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and KWIRS were presented to students who excelled academically.
