Stakeholders in Kwara state basketball industry has taken a giant step in promoting and developing the game.
The body in charge of all basketball activities, has acquired a set of customised upright together with a lengthy reserved bench for players and match officials, which will be ready for use after installation inside the indoor sports hall of the Kwara state stadium in the coming days.
During a stakeholders meeting on Tuesday, Chairman of the association, Dr. Joseph Adeyemo disclosed that arrangements are ongoing to officially unveil the latest Development which came as a result of the collective efforts of his board members.
Dr. Adeyemo, who also doubles as the chairman of Kwara Falcons basketball club emphasized that the vision and mission of his board is not only about producing players and clubs but to also contribute towards community development.
“For us to be efficient in our own capacity, we have to take steps which will build on our work in contributing to the environment. We (The) stakeholders tasked ourselves to start expanding basketball activities on and off the court and that’s why we were able to acquire this new equipment through supports and sacrifices”.
He cited that with further support from government and corporate bodies, the association will endeavour to develop the game at every nook and crannies of the state.
The new equipment will enable the state to host national basketball event and also see the state owned team, KWARA Falcons, among the elite clubs playing with a modern and standard equipments in Nigeria top division. It will also support a range of services at the grassroots.
An automatic upgrade option was attached to the paper work of the equipment which has Kwara Falcons boldly customized on it.
It also has a collapsible rim and a four-inch castor’s (wheels) which makes it portable.
According to the association Secretary, Bello Azeez, he confirmed that a tune up game has been schedule for Tuesday 23rd, July 2019 between Kwara Falcons and Kwara All stars, to officially commission the equipment.
