Kwara SWAN solicits support of media houses
The Kwara State Council of the Sports writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has reaffirmed readiness to partner relevant stakeholders in adding values to the association for improved productivity of its members .
The Chairman of the Association, Mr Jimoh Bashir stated this on Friday in Ilorin when he led other executive members on a courtesy visit to the Management of the Herald Newspapers in Ilorin.
Bashir said plans are underway to collaborate with all the 28 sporting associations in the State through SWAN’s Education Committee to train members on the basic techniques and terms relating to each association to improve their reportage .
The Chairman who expressed determination to complete the association’s Secretariat under construction at the Kwara State Stadium Complex before the expiration of his tenure solicited the support of the media outfit in accomplishing his goals and objectives.
He appreciated the medium for providing template for Sports writers to promote various sporting activities.
Responding, the General Manager of the Herald Newspaper, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Adebayo congratulated the new leadership of SWAN and Implored them to take the association to the next level by improving on the gray areas in the organisation of the SWAN Media games and work towards surpassing the achievements of the previous administrations.
Also Speaking, the Corporation Secretary of the Herald Newspaper, Hajia Afusat Amuda who described sports as a therapy for keeping people alive and prepare them for physical and mental alertness.
Hajia Amuda felicitated with the new SWAN executives and urged them not to renege in discharging their official responsibility in consonance with the ethics of the profession.
