Repent lest death overtakes you, Cleric  warns Muslims

By Ahmed Ajikobi

An Imam of Osere Central Mosque, Ilorin, Ustaz Abdullateef Lawal has called on Muslims to hasten repentance with Allah (SWT) before death comes for them when they least expected.
This was the thrust of the sermon (Khutba) at the Juma’at service delivered by the visiting cleric, as part of the activities for the Friday service.
According to him, it is expedient for Muslims to always remember the oneness of Almighty Allah and know that death is enevitable no matter how long one lives.
He further stressed that death is constant and unavoidable, but a debt every one must pay.
He however urged the Muslims to embark on good deeds because all actions will be accounted for on the Day of Judgement adding that Muslims should strive to practice the Deen and unmark in good deeds as instructed by Allah in the Holy Qur’an.
“Death is inevitable Allah (SWT) who created everything in the universe has the power to kill. We are from Him and we will surely return to Him one day.
“Things done in the secret will be exposed after death and Muslims should always strive to engage in meritorious deeds because death can come at anytime and God will ask us on the day of Judgement to account for everything he gave us including knowledge, money and properties among others.
“So it will be foolhardy to forget Day of Judgement because of life’s enjoyment. Your works will determine your position in the hereafter.
“If we all follow the truth and adhere to the Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet (SAW), we will be joined with those that will enter paradise. This life is nothing but deception and the abode in the hereafter is everlasting”.
