We’ll fix KWASU challenges – Gov Abdulrazaq
Kwara State Government has pledged to address the challenges facing the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, by critically looking into the stoppage of subvention to the institution.
The state Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq made the pledge at the weekend during the send forth ceremony in honour of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah.
Governor Abdulrazaq who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Tertiary Institutions, Dr. Dasuki Sambo congratulated the outgone VC for instilling discipline and maintaining stable academic programme.
He however implored the management of the school to sustain the academic tempo as his administration will work towards achieving the goals for establishing the citadel of learning.
Earlier, Prof. Na’Allah appealed to the management of the university to work towards sustaining the stability and commitments of the university by improving on his legacy.
Na’Allah who was overwhelmed with the reception organised in his honour charged the institution not to abandon the stable academic calendar, but focus on the policies and programmes that would propel the university to one of the leading tertiary institutions in the country.
He affirmed that the achievements recorded so far by KWASU were based on collective commitments and responsibility of both the staff and management in a bid to maintain a university for community development.
In his remarks, the Chairman of KWASU’s Governing Council, Prof. Saka Nuhu who eulogised the out gone Vice Chancellor for his giant strides at stabilising and transforming the institution from the grassroots to world class. He said such achievements would continue to guide him in his new tasks as the University of Abuja VC.
Prof. Nuhu noted that KWASU is involved in Community development Service (CDS) and in the near future, the service will manifest in the academic activities of the institution.
In his good will messages, the ASUU President, Dr. AbdulRaheem Issa Implored the out gone VC not to play with his integrity and personality rather improve on it.
Dr. Issa who also used the occasion to charge the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to restore the subvention of the university, prayed for Allah’s Mercy for Na’Allah in his new assignments.
The representative of Malete Community, Col. Tunde Ishola, applauded the out gone VC for bringing uneven development to the community, noting that the community has been known globally due to the academic activities of the institution.
