World Bank Projects: KWSG reiterates commitment to rural devt
Kwara State Government has assured that rural areas will be prioritise in its effort at infrastructural development of the state.
Speaking at a two -day workshop held at Folusho Hall, Sango,Ilorin for Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and subcommittee of some selected communities on Thursday, the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq emphasised the avowed commitment of his administration towards ensuring even development of the state particularly the rural areas.
He assured that concerted efforts will be made by the present administration in the state in ensuring that all Kwarans benefit.
The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Abdulazeez Tayo Oyelowo disclosed that his administration would focus on rural development and the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA) is the vehicle to achieve the objective.
He charged members of the benefiting communities to be prudent and transparent in handling funds stressing that any mismanagement will be dealt with legally.
Earlier in her address, the General Manager, KWCSDA, Engr. (Mrs) Amamat Oluwatoyin Haruna explained that, “KWCSDA is designed to sustainably increase access of the poor to basic social infrastructures with the aim of complementing the state government’s efforts at reducing poverty levels in the rural and peri urban areas in the state.”
She also explained that “the Agency gives financial and advisory support to interested communities, who have submitted their Expression of Interest (EOI) towards the implementation of their identified priority projects within their approved Community Development Plans (CDPs).”
The GM further disclosed that the Agency is presently supporting CDPs of 149 communities across the 16 local government areas of the state.
The benefiting communities at the workshop include Olugbense, Ajoni Olalomi, Oyatedo, Omugo, Oke-Oyan, Tanks Iledu, Irapa, Igbaja, Aireke-Ilupeju and Gaa Uthman.
