MAN calls for placement in board of  Kwara, Kogi agencies

The Kwara and Kogi states branch of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called for placement on the board of some related agencies in the states.
The Chairman of the branch, Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf  made the call while delivering an address at the public session of the 5th Annual General  Meeting of the association held at the Banquet Hall,  Ilorin, Kwara on Thursday.
He said “Your Excellencies, my council will appreciate if you can with your good offices  admit MAN as members of the boards of some related agencies in your states.
“Such agencies include the state Environmental Protection Agency, state Internal Revenue Service, Water Corporation among others. It is proper to have MAN as board members because it is a statutorily provision in the laws establishing these agencies.
” Also as members of these boards it is necessary for us to collaborate with the states  towards developmental strides and we look forward to hearing from you on this issue,” he added.
The Chairman highlighted some challenges that have posed serious challenges to the branch in obtaining Certificate of Occupancy, which include lack of industrial parks for industrialists, non availability of infrastructural facilities and double taxation, high levies on industries, among others.
He urged all tiers government to synergise in putting an end to smuggling activities to boost local production in order to enhance revenue generation and job creation in the country.
In his remarks, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi noted that his administration will collaborate with manufacturers in the state in order to create more job opportunities for youths.
He further assured that the state government will establish working partnership with the manufacturers to ensure economic recovery policies in the state.
Other dignitaries at the event were the Etsu of Patigi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, Director General of MAN, Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir among others.
