The executive Governor of Kwara state, Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq this evening, met with the Kwara state football executives led by its chairman Malam Idris Musa at the Kwara state stadium.
His Excellency, discussed about the need to improve football development in Kwara.
The football association also used the opportunity to brief the governor on the upcoming under-15 championship tagged ‘Governors Cup’ which has been earmarked as part of activities to celebrate the current state government one hundred days in office.

Gbodofu Youths Descendants Association (GYDA) has commended the state government, under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for appointing Kwara United’s legends as coaches of the club.
The team recently appointed Coach Taofeek Babatunde as Assistant Coach of Kwara United FC, after elevating the former Assistant Coach, Ashifat Sulaiman to the position of Head Coach.
The appointment was aimed at preparing early for the new season, which is expected to begin very soon.
In a release signed by the President of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Kolo Gbodofu, the body also praised the team’s management for appointing one of their sons, Coach Taofeek Babatunde as Assistant coach of the team.
Both Sulaiman and Babatunde are legends of the club, having played and won many laurels with the club before graduating to become coaches. Babatunde is from Gbodofu area of the Emirate.
Ashifat Sulaiman was appointed before the beginning of last season as assistant to former coach, Bala Abubakar, who has now rejoined Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna.
GYDA thanked the state government and the management of the club for the opportunity, which they say, will increase home support for the team, even as they also pledged their total support to the team.
Kwara United FC will campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL) in the coming season, having been relegated to the second tier league after the recently concluded NPFL season.
