Killer Policeman now on the run – Lagos Command
The police in Lagos have said that one of its officers, who shot and killed a civilian named Ahmed Segun in the Ikotun area of the state on Tuesday is now on the run.
In a statement spokesperson for the Command, Bala Elkana, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Zubairu Muazu, has ordered an investigation into the matter.
The statement read, “The Lagos State Police Command have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of one Ahmed Segun.
“August 6, 2019, at about 9pm, the Command received a distress call that some youths attacked a car stand in the Ikotun area of the state and were about to set the building ablaze.
“Police teams from Idimu and neighbouring stations were mobilised to the scene, while reinforcements were also sent from the Rapid Response Squad.
“A preliminary investigation showed that the youths were reacting to the death of one of their own known as Ahmed Segun, a 32-year-old male purported to have been shot by a policeman protecting the company.
“Eyewitnesses stated that there was an argument that ensued between the policeman and the deceased which led to a physical confrontation. This led to a fight and the eventual shooting of Segun.
“The whereabouts of the said policeman is unknown. It is not also certain whether he is dead or alive.
“The Commissioner of Police in Lagos has ordered an in-depth investigation into the case.”
