KWSG pledges to patronise indigenous contractors

Kwara State Government has promised to patronise  indigenous contractors towards their empowerment and development of the state.
This assurance was given by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi at the inauguration ceremony of executives of the Kwara Indigenous Contractor/Suppliers (KICS) in All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday.
Represented  by Mr Fatoye Babatunde,  he said the state government would give consideration to members of KIC in the award of contracts.
“These are the people who voted the government into power and we believe they can also do the work better,” Alabi said.
He,  however, urged members of the  association to ensure they deliver on any contract given to  them in order to justify confidence reposed in them.
He added that failure to perform and use quality materials for any project awarded to them,  will discourage government and will impede their chances of getting more contracts from the state.
In his address, President of the association, Alhaji Moshood Bolakale Aigoro, charged members to show high level of integrity when they are awarded contracts.
He re-echoed promise by the present administration  to patronise contractors and suppliers that are into block moulding tippers owners, carpenters and labourers among others.
He said, “The State Governor has promised to patronise residents and indigenes of the state for various works,”.
Aigoro then warned  members against collecting contracts without knowledge of the association, saying such has negative consequences.
Other executive members of the association are Vice President, Alhaja Bola Gari-Alimi; General Secretary, Abimbola Lukman; Assistant Secretary, Fadilat Dauda; Treasurer, Alhaji Lawal Jatto and Femi Omowumi as Financial Secretary.
Hyacinth Opah as Public Relations Officer; Raheem Kolawole, Assistant PRO; Abayomi, Publicity Secretary, Jimoh Kabir, Assistant Publicity Secretary and Hon. Ahmad Muh’d as Organising Secretary among others.
